City Slicker's Guide to RV Camping Westchester County

from:

While you might think that Westchester County is too close to New York City for it to be a very good location for RVing, there are actually plenty of places to go for a good camping experience. In fact, with a bit of guidance, anyone can have the time of his life RV camping Westchester County. All it takes it a bit of sense and information. This article will give you more than enough of both to have a successful trip.

Westchester County has an intricate and expansive system of parks that are meant to accommodate all manner of outdoor activities, camping included. Depending on the park to which you go, you will be able to have up to full hook-ups for RV camping Westchester County. Two of the most popular parks for recreation vehicles are Croton Point Park and Ward Pound Ridge, both of which offer sites with a range of hook-ups, with varying daily and weekly rates.

Of course, finding a site for RV camping Westchester County is only the first part of your trip. Once you are situated, you will be prepared to go out and visit the attractions in the county. Depending on your interests, you will find many different things to do. A good place to start looking might be one of the Seven Wonders of Westchester, seven of the most popular tourist sites within the county. These are Caramoor Center for the Arts, the Hudson River Museum, the Katonah Museum of Art, Kykuit, Lyndhurst, Neuberger Museum of Art, Philipsburg Manor, and the Performing Arts Center. Each of these sites attracts thousands of people each year. Or, you might consider a trip to Playland, the United States first fully planned amusement park. It was the inspiration for the Magic Mountains and Busch Gardens of today.

In addition to these things, there are many American Revolutionary War sites that are easily accessible from many of the camp grounds within the county. It makes for an excellent Fourth of July weekend of RV camping Westchester County to make an itinerary of the sites from the Revolutionary War, such as Thomas Paine's Cottage and Patriots park, before heading back to the campsite to BBQ some hamburgers and watch one of the County's fireworks displays. Few things are as American as fireworks and RV camping.

Some final words of advise before you start RV camping Westchester County. If you are planning to go during peak season—which includes pretty much the whole summer, but especially holiday weekends—you must be sure to make reservations in advance. There are millions of people out there who want the campsites you do, so be sure to get one and not get stuck driving for hours looking for a place to park your rig.
